The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta's 6th Annual Campaign Kick-off "Extraordinary Minds" will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 6 pm in the Arts Common, Engineered Air Theatre in Calgary Alberta. Following the kick-off, the fundraising campaign runs for six weeks and includes direct mail, media coverage, public engagement and social media marketing.
This past year SSA provided support to 26,329 individuals living with schizophrenia, their families, and caregivers. This year our campaign goal is to raise $120,000 to help expand our reach to support 34,000 by December 2018.
To date, this campaign is sponsored by; CTV, the alliance of Ostuka and Lundbeck, Proforma NBT, Medicine Shoppe and the Mount Royal Conservatory. Attendees include mental health professionals, first responders, city official, government dignitaries, media and families of loved ones with schizophrenia.
The campaign kick-off is an in-depth and poignant look into the personal lives of those living with schizophrenia. Through the play, Starry Night, you will see the effects of the illness and get a glimpse of their journey as they face the stigma and challenges associated with mental illness.
CTV hosts the evening which also includes live entertainment by Mount Royal Conservatory, a personal story of recovery, discussion panel, Q & A and a networking reception.
