The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta needs your support of our 2024 “See Me, Not My Illness” Annual Fundraising Campaign.

We chose this name because 96% of people living with schizophrenia experience discrimination and stigma in their daily lives, affecting their willingness to seek early treatment, and making it difficult for them to find employment and housing.

At SSA, we provide a safe non-judgmental place for our clients to connect with others who live with schizophrenia and to get the help they need. We proudly share this note from Joe, who lives with schizophrenia, accesses our programs and is employed with us. We all love Joe’s humour, which is evident throughout his story that you can read below:

Our programs make a difference for individuals living with schizophrenia, as well as their families and caregivers. In a time of rising costs and an increased demand for our services, we have also experienced a decrease in funding. This severely impacts our ability to maintain our programs and services at the current level.

Our Annual Fundraising Campaign runs until December 31, and we need your help to reach our goal of $125,000! Contributions of any amount are appreciated and important to ensure we can sustain our current level of supports and meet the increased demand.
